The main things that should be kept in mind include the room you will be fitting your floor in, whether or not you have underfloor heating, the way it is fitted, and its durability.

It is important to make sure that your new floor is appropriate for the room it will be fitted in. We would not advise installing wooden flooring in areas prone to moisture such as bathrooms. In areas like this, it would be a good idea to opt for materials like vinyl. It is best to keep vinyl away from staircases, to prevent slips and accidents from taking place.

We would suggest dividing your space into rectangles and calculating the area of every rectangle by multiplying the width and length.

Underlays are necessary for keeping your flooring secure and creating an even base on which to lay your floors. If you have underfloor heating or a concrete subfloor, an underlay with a Damp-Proof Membrane (DPM) will be necessary. If you have a wooden subfloor, a simple foam underlay would make for a suitable choice, though we sell various options to aid sound reduction.

Eco friendly floor choices include carpet produced from natural materials such as jute, wool and seagrass, as well as sustainable wood.
